Cost Accounting Manager
Job Summary:
The Cost Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing our food development manufacturing cost accounting systems and processes to ensure accurate financial reporting. This role involves analyzing production costs, preparing cost forecasts, developing cost standards, and collaborating with operations and finance teams to optimize profitability. The position will ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards, and provide actionable insights to support budgeting, pricing, and inventory valuation.
Responsibilities:
- Monitors pricing and costing for all products.
- Establishes and updates ingredient costs and labor/overhead rates for BOMs.
- Monitors material yield variances.
- Analyzes and reports out daily and weekly production costs and metrics.
- Works directly with plant management to provide cost data and recommend areas for improved efficiency and/or cost reduction.
- Reviews product categories to ensure items meet gross profit targets and root causes deviations from target.
- Develop recommendations for pricing adjustments for review with Senior VP of Manufacturing.
- Reviews customer orders for needed pricing adjustments.
- Analyzes monthly financial statements and proposes adjustments to Corporate Finance team as needed. Reports findings for the management team and recommend areas that need focus and/or improvement.
- Participates in several weekly gate meetings, discussing new opportunities and changes needed for existing products.
- Works with Corporate Finance team and Senior VP of Manufacturing to develop annual budget.
- Monitors adequacy of inventory reserve.
- Calculates sales and freight rebate programs.
- Provides information to other departments as needed.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree
- At least seven years of cost accounting experience
- Experience in manufacturing environment
- Experience in JD Edwards or other ERP systems is preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds at times.

- At least seven years of cost accounting experience
- Experience in manufacturing environment
