Deposit Operations Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY

The Deposit Operations Specialist plays a key role in supporting the operational integrity and efficiency of the credit union's deposit functions. This position is responsible for managing critical operational programs, ensuring member account accuracy and compliance, and supporting processes that directly enhance the member experience. The Specialist works closely with the SR Deposit Operations Specialist and internal teams to provide consistent, high-quality operational support that aligns with organizational standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Demonstrate and support Dutch Point Credit Union values and operational standards.

· Provide accurate and timely support for operational processes that impact member accounts and internal workflows.

· Provide accurate and timely support for branch staff requests related to member research.

· Provide support for branch staff by performing outbound member communication.

· Collaborate with internal teams to resolve operational issues, improve efficiency, and maintain a consistent level of service.

· Complete verification of deposit requests efficiently and in accordance with established procedures.

· Perform membership account audits to ensure eligibility requirements have been met and that accounts remain accurate and compliant with internal policies and regulatory standards.

· Complete a variety of operational audits in accordance with internal policies and procedures.

· Process member address changes and additional operational functions related to the accuracy and quality of member addresses

· Collaborate with team members in creating and maintaining knowledge documents.

· Process and post mail in payments.

· Monitor and support operational functions affecting member accounts, ensuring quality, consistency, and compliance across all activities.

· Handle quality control of all IRA transactions processed through core systems and third-party platforms.

· Assist with IRA death claims and required minimum distributions (RMDs) in accordance with applicable regulations and guidelines.

· Assist with processing legal and regulatory requests, including bank executions, tax levies, and subpoenas with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

· Support the Sr Branch Operations Specialist with the annual State of Connecticut escheatment process, ensuring compliance with state requirements.

· Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.

· Demonstrate working knowledge of IRA products, IRS laws, and regulatory requirements applicable to the role.

· Process work within established timeframes, ensuring timely responses to internal and external inquiries.

· Adhere to all credit union policies, procedures, and compliance requirements to maintain operational integrity.

· Exhibit adaptability in response to changing regulations, processes, and technology.

· Collaborate effectively with internal and external teams to support a positive and productive work environment.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· Experience in the financial services industry is required

· Working knowledge of IRA products, rules, IRS laws, and regulations strongly preferred.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and standard office systems.

· Strong organizational, analytical, and multitasking skills with the ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.

· Strong member account auditing experience, including verification of membership eligibility requirements and compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards.

· Ability to perform operational audits and quality reviews to ensure consistency, accuracy, and adherence to established procedures.

· Experience supporting IRA administration, including transaction quality control, death claim processing, and required minimum distribution (RMD) support.

· Ability to manage member communication initiatives and support issue resolution through effective collaboration with branch staff and internal departments.

· Experience processing legal and regulatory requests, including bank executions, tax levies, subpoenas, and escheatment-related activities with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.

· Ability to support operational efficiency through process documentation, knowledge base maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

· Working knowledge of deposit verification processes, membership account maintenance, address management, payment posting, and operational support functions affecting member accounts.

· Experience conducting account and operational audits, performing quality control reviews, and maintaining compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.

· Strong understanding of IRA servicing practices, including transaction validation, death claim administration, and required minimum distribution (RMD) processing.

· Proficiency utilizing core banking systems and third-party platforms to research accounts, process transactions, perform quality reviews, and resolve operational issues.

· Ability to process and maintain legal and regulatory documentation, including tax levies, subpoenas, bank executions, and state escheatment requirements.

· Experience monitoring operational workflows, ensuring data integrity, maintaining accurate records, and supporting audit readiness.
