What are the responsibilities and job description for the Orthodontic Assistant position at Durrett Orthodontics?
Orthodontic assistant with at least 2 years of experience as an orthodontic assistant (preferably orthodontic certified):
• Knowledge of dental and orthodontic terminology
• Greeting patients and parents in a friendly manner
• Accurately recording treatment notes in practice management software
• Take diagnostic records including digital x-rays (panoramic & cephalometric), digital extraoral/intraoral photographs and digital impression scanning (iTero)
• Assisting the orthodontist in a variety of orthodontic procedures
• Clearly explain oral hygiene procedures and orthodontic appliance care to the patient and parents
• Knowledge of infection control procedures
• CPR certification
• Expanded functions dental assistant (EFDA) certification
• X-ray certification
• Computer skills and knowledge of software such as Microsoft Word and Excel
• Customer service skills: answering phones, scheduling appointments, checking insurance benefits
• Willingness to help market the practice
