What You’ll Do
- Analyze customer technical specifications and translate requirements into equipment and process solutions
- Design and estimate automotive paint shop process equipment, including:
- Pretreatment (PT/ED)
- Paint booths
- Ovens
- Work decks and enclosures
- Develop equipment layouts in collaboration with layout engineering
- Create process equipment schematics and flow diagrams
- Prepare technical documentation for customer proposals
- Develop detailed project cost estimates and bid documentation
- Coordinate estimating activities including drawings and technical specifications
- Support proposal development and technical clarifications
- Coordinate with major subcontractors including:
- Conveyors
- Paint application systems
- Paint mix systems
- Collaborate with global Dürr teams including Germany and Mexico
- Develop purchased equipment lists and technical specifications
- Evaluate alternative equipment and supplier solutions
- Support project handoff and early project execution activities
- Participate in planning meetings and design reviews
- Present technical solutions to customers and internal teams
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field
- 5 years of experience in automotive paint shop or finishing systems
- Experience with paint process equipment design and estimation
- Knowledge of paint shop systems such as PT/ED, booths, ovens, and conveyance
- Experience working from customer specifications and RFQs
- Strong technical problem-solving skills
- Experience preparing technical proposals and estimates
- Ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Experience with Visio or similar schematic tools
- Experience working with engineering drawings and layouts
- SAP experience is a plus
- Experience with project scheduling is a plus
