What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Nurse/Triage position at Durham Women's Clinic?
The assistant head nurse/triage position is an important position at Durham Women’s Clinic. This position will consist of the following responsibilities listed below:
· Assistant Head Nurse reports to Head Nurse, Practice Manager and Partner MDs.
· The assistant will help manage clinical staff: Responsible for clinical staff including mammo, lab and ultrasound as their 2nd point of contact if our head nurse is not available.
· You will assist head nurse with hiring, supervising, orienting, disciplining, and evaluating all clinical staff.
· You will assist Practice Manager as needed.
· You will be responsible for triage on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday all day.
This includes both portal, phone messages, and prescription refills. Also help with prior authorizations and pre-certs.
· Responsible for NOBs on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
· You will assist on floor with patients/provider as needed.
· Administer IV Fluids as needed.
· Responsible for documenting and approval of all OB transfers.
. This includes keeping up to date with the spreadsheet and making sure the transfers are received back in a timely manner.
· Assist and help set up staff development trainings for all clinical staff.
· Assist, schedule, and help with clinical staff meetings, take minutes.
· Responsible for the overall day to day direction, coordination, and evaluation of the clinical department.
· Provide support to the Practice Manager, Head Nurse, and all providers.
· Help with making sure all clinical staff are up to date on all medical education requirements (such as CLIA, BLS, OSHA, HIPAA, etc.).
· Meet with Vendors and assess new products or changes to clinical systems.
· Administer Injections as needed (depo, flu, t-dap, etc.)
Experience: Would like 2 years of OBGYN nursing experience. EHR (Electronic Health Record) experience preferred. Triaging experience preferred.
Education: Registered Nurse preferred
Skills: Excellent communication skills; collaborative team player; compassionate and caring; accountable; self-directed. Able to prioritize medial emergency phone calls, explain lab/test results, and communicate effectively within the patients level of understanding.
