This class works under the Voter Services Manager.
Duties And Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
May be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and emergencies (man-made or natural) to meet the business needs of Durham County.

Duties And Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
- Provides general office administrative support as directed.
- Performs routine office duties such as overseeing the front desk under the supervision of the Senior Elections Administrator, answering phones, disseminating messages, maintaining conference/training room calendars, greeting and assisting the public, scheduling, and coordinating meetings and data entry.
- Responds to customers by providing routine information, answering questions, and referring customers to appropriate resources.
- Edits, formats and drafts documents (correspondence, department policy manual, department budget, etc.).
- Creates and maintains specialized reports, records, and files required to that department’s work processes.
- Executes departmental list maintenance functions under the supervision of the Voter Services Manager.
- Assists in maintaining departmental records: records all incoming and outgoing voter records, mail, pay labels, and procurement card records.
- Assists with processing payroll, purchase orders, invoices, and human resource functions.
- Performs related work as assigned.
- Thorough knowledge of standard office practices, procedures and equipment.
- General knowledge of business English, spelling and arithmetic.
- Ability to type accurately at a reasonable rate of speed.
- Ability to make arithmetical calculations and file alphabetically.
- Ability to interpret and transmit to subordinates departmental rules and regulations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
- Ability to understand oral and written instructions.
- Knowledge of office management techniques including the ability to organize workflow and coordinate activities.
- Ability to take direction and follow documented procedures.
- Ability to engage positively with customers generally and in difficult situations.
- High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
- One (1) year of administrative or clerical support or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
