Varsity Assistant Swim Coach (part-time)

Durham Academy is accepting applications for part-time varsity assistant swim coach.  The season is currently running through mid-February.  

Job Responsibilities:

• Help Plan and execute effective practices

• Assist head coach with creating and executing meet strategy to include in-meet coaching

• Drive a minibus to all road meets

• Collaborate with all coaches in the swim program and DA Athletics trainers, staff, administration and faculty   

Candidates should expect a regular weekday commitment of 75-minute practices with one meet per week.  The end of season state meet will be in Greensboro on Feb. 9.  This position reports to both the Head Varsity Swim Coach and the Director of Athletics.

The ideal candidate will have the following characteristics:

• Experience as a swimmer or swim coach at the interscholastic or collegiate level.

• A commitment to providing a safe, healthy, joyful environment for practice and play

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• An ability and eagerness to maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with all members of the school community (student-athletes, families, alumni, teachers, administrators and fellow coaches)

• The ability to lead student-athletes with competitive energy and formative care
