Substitute Teachers

Durham Academy is accepting applications for highly qualified substitute teachers for Preschool, Lower School, Middle School and Upper School. 

Responsibilities include

• Take attendance, carry out lesson plans and maintain classroom structure during teacher’s absence
• Work with students on academic tasks and adhere to normal school day schedule and responsibilities
• Work collaboratively with colleagues about students and curriculum
• Be familiar with expectations about student behavior and discipline and follow school procedures and guidelines 

Qualifications

• Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree (preferably in education or related academic area) and experience working with children in an educational environment
• Must be dependable and willing to report for class assignment on short notice
• Should be familiar with online and in-person training and instructional techniques

Our School

Founded in 1933, Durham Academy is an all-gender, independent day school with 1,252 students in Pre-kindergarten through grade 12 on three campuses.
