Position Overview
The Amada Brake Press & Laser Setup/Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Amada CNC press brakes and Amada fiber or CO₂ laser cutting machines. This role ensures high‑quality sheet metal fabrication according to engineering drawings, work orders, and quality standards while maintaining safety and production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Amada Press Brake Operation
- Set up Amada CNC press brakes—including tooling, programming adjustments, and bend sequence setup.
- Interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and bend deductions to produce accurate parts.
- Create or modify machine programs using Amada control interfaces (e.g., NC9, AMNC).
- Perform first‑article inspections and make adjustments to ensure part accuracy.
- Operate the press brake efficiently while maintaining dimensional tolerances.
Amada Laser Operation
- Set up and operate Amada laser cutting machines (e.g., ENSIS, FO‑series, LCG‑series).
- Load programs, adjust cutting parameters, and optimize cutting quality as needed.
- Inspect cut parts for accuracy, edge quality, and material conformity.
- Monitor machine condition and report or troubleshoot technical issues.
General Fabrication & Production
- Read and interpret work orders, material specs, and job travelers.
- Handle raw materials: sheet metal loading, unloading, tagging, and organizing.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as lens/nozzle cleaning, tooling inspection, and basic machine upkeep.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment following OSHA and company safety standards.
- Document production data accurately, including part counts, scrap, and machine settings.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 2 years experience operating and setting up Amada press brakes or equivalent CNC press brakes.
- 2 years experience with laser cutting operations preferred.
- Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication, bend allowances, material properties, and tolerances.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints.
- Familiarity with measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and protractors.
- Working knowledge of CNC interfaces and G/M‑code basics (preferred).
- Strong problem‑solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Standing for extended periods.
- Repetitive bending, twisting, reaching, and material handling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Amada tooling, offline programming software, or CAD/CAM systems.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or 5S principles.
- Welding or other fabrication skills (optional).
