Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant / Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in patient care, medical procedures, and clinical support functions. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to patient well-being through direct care, diagnostic testing, and efficient management of medical records. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent communication skills, adherence to confidentiality policies, and proficiency with ophthalmic and medical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ophthalmic patient examinations, including eye refraction, tonometry, and other diagnostic imaging procedures using specialized ophthalmic equipment.
  • Assist with patient intake processes, ensuring accurate collection of medical histories and vital signs while maintaining compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
  • Operate and maintain medical equipment such as A-scan biometers, tonometers, and other diagnostic tools with precision and adherence to aseptic techniques.
  • Support physicians during examinations by preparing patients, managing electronic health records (EHR), and documenting clinical notes accurately.
  • Provide exceptional patient service by addressing questions, explaining procedures clearly, and ensuring a comfortable experience for all patients.
  • Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment in accordance with safety standards and infection control protocols.
  • Assist in administrative tasks such as medical coding, updating patient records, and managing inventory of ophthalmic supplies.

Experience

  • Prior experience working in a medical office setting, preferably within ophthalmology or optometry clinics.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical documentation practices.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology related to eye anatomy, physiology, and ophthalmic diagnostics.
  • Hands-on experience operating ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as A-scan biometers and tonometers.
  • Familiarity with clinical confidentiality policies including HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy at all times.
  • Strong understanding of patient care principles with a focus on direct patient interactions and service excellence.
  • Experience in retail math or inventory management is advantageous for maintaining supplies efficiently.
