Job Description: Ignite Maker Mobile Lab Learning Facilitator

Role Overview: The Ignite Maker Mobile Lab Learning Facilitator is a high-energy, licensed educator responsible for bringing STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) to life. You will pilot our mobile lab to various community sites, delivering hands-on, multi-age lessons that spark curiosity and innovation. This role requires a blend of technical "maker" savvy and the ability to lead a diverse, mobile classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Design & Delivery: Create and facilitate engaging, age-appropriate STEAM lessons for diverse groups of students (K–12).
  • Mobile Lab Operations: Oversee the daily setup and breakdown of the mobile lab environment at various community locations.
  • Student Supervision: Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment. Set clear behavioral expectations and manage group dynamics effectively on the bus and at outdoor sites.
  • Community Engagement: Act as a brand ambassador for the program, providing resources and guidance to students and their families.
  • Resource Management: Maintain an organized inventory of high-tech and "low-tech" maker materials, ensuring equipment is ready for use.
  • Other duties as assigned

Technical Proficiencies & Tools

  • Digital Tools: LEGO Essentials/Spike Prime, VR technology, 3D printing (TinkerCAD/Slicing software).
  • Unplugged STEAM: Facilitating "low-tech" engineering and computational thinking activities, including:
  • Logic & Algorithms: Teaching coding concepts through physical games and manual sequence building.
  • Rapid Prototyping: Utilizing recycled materials and cardboard construction to solve engineering challenges.
  • Kinesthetic Learning: Designing activities that move students through the scientific method without a screen.
  • Electronics: Circuitry kits (Makey Makey, LittleBits) or microcontrollers.

Qualifications

  • Licensure: Must hold a valid Colorado Teaching License (in good standing).
  • Instructional Skill: Demonstrated experience in classroom management and facilitating student-led inquiry.
  • Passion for STEAM: A genuine "maker" mindset—you love to build, break, and fix things.
  • Adaptability: Ability to think on your feet, especially when technology decides to be "difficult" in the field.

Reporting: This position reports directly to the Executive Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.

Compensation:  Hourly: $37.50
