HOSA-Future Health Professionals Assistant Advisor, Durango High School

Durango School District is accepting applications for the HOSA-Future Health Professionals Assistant Advisor at Durango High School 

The HOSA-Future Health Professionals Assistant Advisor supports the HOSA Lead Advisor in providing a student-centered Career and Technical Student Organization experience for students participating in the Health Science pathway. The Assistant Advisor helps students develop leadership, professional, teamwork, and career-readiness skills through HOSA chapter activities, competitive events, conferences, community service, and other student-led experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with the HOSA Lead Advisor to support the planning and implementation of the chapter’s annual Program of Work.
• Support HOSA student officers and members in planning and leading chapter meetings, activities, community service projects, fundraising, professional development, and other chapter initiatives.
• Help students identify, prepare for, and participate in HOSA competitive events.
• Assist with student selection and preparation for conferences and competitions using clearly communicated chapter expectations and processes.
• Support conference and competition registration, student documentation, permission forms, travel preparation, supervision, and other event logistics.
• Maintain regular communication with the Lead Advisor regarding student participation, deadlines, events, and chapter needs.
• Help communicate relevant information and expectations to students and families.
• Provide appropriate supervision during HOSA meetings, activities, conferences, competitions, and other chapter events.
• Support accurate participation records and required chapter documentation.
• Help ensure HOSA activities align with the DHS CTSO Handbook, school and district expectations, and Colorado and National HOSA requirements.
• Encourage broad student participation while helping students take increasing ownership of chapter leadership and activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Experience working in the health care professions
• Fundamental knowledge of the health care fields
• Experience working with school aged students is preferred
• Ability to work as an integral part of the Career and Technical  Student Organization (CTSO) Teams at Durango High School
• Ability to inspire growth and leadership within the health care fields
