Durango School District is accepting applications for a Brass Specialist - Marching Band, to assist the Band Director at Durango High School. Begins June 01, 2026.
REPORTS TO: Athletic Director/Head Band Director
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: As a specailist to the high school Band Director, you will coordinates the preparations, exercises, and instructs all sections. The instructor prepares and directs the unit for independent performance and competition, as well as for performances integrated within the larger marching band. Act as the visionary expert for the respective ensemble. Be responsible for all elements of running the brass section.
- Assist the Marching Band staff with the complete choreography and teaching of the marching band specific to the brass secition routine for each Marching Band performance.
- Teach and choreograph the routine for performance.
- Provide added adult supervision/teaching duties on all extended day performances and competitions, including weekends. Attend band camp rehearsals and all performances, including the band trip, football games, festivals, adjudications, and parades. Attend additional color guard-only practices as needed.
- Organize the design/selection/ordering of color guard show uniforms and other apparel Work with the band director in ordering instruments, supplies Oversee the equipment and equipment preparation
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid CHSAA Certification, or Colorado Teaching Certificate/License
- Fundamental knowledge of band/percussion
- Experience working with related school aged students
- Current medical injury treatment course work
