- Plan and implement a comprehensive training program that focuses on skill development, strategy, and teamwork.
- Conduct daily practices that enhance players' technical abilities and game understanding.
- Develop game strategies and make real-time decisions during competitions.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, discipline, and sportsmanship.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team policies, schedules, and expectations.
- Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes and promote a balance between athletics and academics.
- Organize and oversee team events, including fundraisers, team-building activities, and community outreach initiatives.
- Collaborate with other coaching staff and school personnel to ensure a cohesive athletic program.
- Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all school and athletic association rules and regulations.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school level or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their best.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- First Aid/CPR certification is preferred or the willingness to obtain certification.
- A positive attitude and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive team environment.
- Must pass a background check as required by school district policies.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during the basketball season, including practices and games.
