Position Summary

The Supply Chain Manager leads the company’s purchasing, supplier management, and inventory management functions across locations. This role is responsible for developing and leading purchasing processes, supplier standards, inventory controls, replenishment methods, and reporting that support material availability, cost management, inventory accuracy, and business growth.

The initial priority will be strengthening raw material and inventory management practices in St. Paul, while building scalable and consistent Supply Chain processes across the organization.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring the ability to move between process improvement, team leadership, supplier management, data analysis, and day-to-day problem solving. The Supply Chain Manager partners closely with Operations, Finance, Customer Service, and Sales and reports to the VP of Finance.

Key Responsibilities

Purchasing & Supplier Management

  • Lead company-wide purchasing across raw materials, outsourced products, production supplies, office supplies, and other purchasing categories.
  • Develop and implement purchasing processes, policies, controls, and supplier standards.
  • Lead supplier qualification, selection, performance management, and significant negotiations.
  • Evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, lead time, capacity, service, reliability, and supply risk.
  • Identify opportunities to improve pricing, consolidate spending, leverage purchasing volume, and strengthen supplier terms.
  • Build strong relationships with key suppliers and establish meaningful supplier performance measures.

Inventory Management

  • Lead the development of inventory management controls, stocking strategies, and replenishment methods across the organization.
  • Partner with Operations and Finance to establish appropriate inventory levels while supporting production and customer requirements.
  • Lead efforts to improve inventory accuracy, with an initial focus on St. Paul.
  • Establish effective cycle-counting practices and processes for investigating and correcting inventory discrepancies.
  • Identify and address excess, obsolete, slow-moving, and at-risk inventory.
  • Evaluate inventory resource needs and recommend changes as appropriate.

Systems, Data & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure purchasing and inventory data within the ERP system is accurate, consistent, and useful for decision-making.
  • Identify and correct process or system issues contributing to purchasing errors, stockouts, excess inventory, or inaccurate inventory.
  • Build scalable, repeatable Supply Chain processes and controls.
  • Establish KPIs and operating rhythms for reviewing purchasing, supplier, inventory, and cost performance.
  • Identify, implement, and track measurable cost savings and Supply Chain improvements.

Team & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop Supply Chain team members across locations.
  • Establish clear roles, priorities, expectations, and accountability.
  • Partner closely with Operations and Finance on purchasing, inventory, budgeting, and material availability.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service and Sales when supply issues may affect customer commitments.
  • Communicate significant supplier, inventory, material, or cost risks to leadership and lead cross-functional problem solving.
Qualifications
  • 5 years of progressive experience in purchasing, supply chain, materials management, inventory management, or a related manufacturing environment.
  • 3 years of experience leading and developing team members.
  • Strong manufacturing purchasing, supplier management, and negotiation experience.
  • Demonstrated experience improving purchasing, inventory, or Supply Chain processes.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management, replenishment methods, and inventory controls.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems required; NetSuite experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to identify issues and drive decisions.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on leadership style with demonstrated ability to establish accountability and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ability to travel approximately20%, including regular travel between St. Paul and Westfield locations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Ability to perform work requiring regular computer use and movement throughout office and production areas.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry materials and travel between company locations as required.
  • This position may work in or around a manufacturing environment and may require the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
