What are the responsibilities and job description for the Jet Heater Assembly Tech position at Durable Assembly?
Jet Heater Sub-Assembly and Final Assembly Technician
Position Summary
The Jet Heater Final Assembly Technician is responsible for executing the comprehensive ground-up integration of all major mechanical, electrical, and structural sub-assemblies into the final commercial jet heater unit. This high-precision manufacturing role involves taking independent modules—including the core engine/propulsion frame, fuel delivery grids, electrical control enclosures, and airflow ducting—and meticulously marrying them into the final mobile chassis. The technician ensures all systems route cleanly, with engineering specs, and stand structurally sound before passing the completed machinery to final quality testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Sub-Assembly Creation, Marriage & Alignment: Position, square, and structurally integrate discrete sub-assembly modules (such as pre-built control panels, combustion housings, fuel tank foundations, and frame enclosures) into the final machine architecture.
- System Plumbing & Fluid Routing: Route and tie-in intricate sub-assembly lines including high-pressure steel-braided fuel lines, fuel filtration networks, and structural overflow drainage systems.
- Electrical Integration & Harnessing: Mount complex electrical control boxes and precisely route main wire harnesses across the chassis; secure connections to independent sensors, relays, and spark igniters to create a unified electrical infrastructure.
- Mechanical Fitment & Gasketry: Install main turbine fan wheels, specialized airflow ducting, exhaust cones, and protective acoustic cowlings; apply high-temperature industrial sealants and gaskets to completely isolate the combustion envelope.
- Precision Structural Fastening: Execute final torque sequences on critical structural joints, shock-absorbing motor mounts, and high-vibration load zones to exact mechanical tolerances.
- In-Line Quality Inspections: Conduct continuous visual and manual audits of fit, finish, and spatial clearance between moving sub-assemblies to eliminate friction or harness chafing prior to final skin panels being installed.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 2 years of complex mechanical assembly experience in capital equipment manufacturing, aviation assembly, specialty automotive conversion, or heavy industrial machinery production.
- Technical Aptitude: Demonstrated skill in marrying distinct structural, pneumatic/fluid, and low-voltage electrical systems seamlessly onto a single chassis.
- Schematic Interpretation: High proficiency reading multi-layer assembly blueprints, master build bills of materials (BOM), and mechanical routing maps.
- Tool Mastery: Experienced with professional-grade assembly tooling including pneumatic torque guns, specialized harness-crimping tools, alignment pins, and shop overhead cranes/hoists.
