Role Summary
The Dietary Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the dietary department. This includes budgeting, inventory and ordering, staff scheduling and supervision, and ensuring excellent meal service that aligns with residents’ nutritional plans and physician-mandated diets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of the dietary department, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Oversee inventory control, purchasing, and budget management.
- Create and manage staff schedules while providing support, coaching, and supervision.
- Work collaboratively with nursing, therapy, and care teams to meet resident needs and preferences.
- Supervise meal preparation and service to ensure quality, presentation, and adherence to dietary instructions.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of various therapeutic diets, texture modifications (including mechanical soft, pureed, and other diet modifications), and resident preferences.
- Periodically assist with food preparation as needed.
Qualifications
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification is Preferred but not required.
- If the successful candidate does not currently hold a CDM, we will support and assist you in obtaining the certification.
- Previous experience in dietary management, preferably in a long-term care, rehabilitation, or healthcare setting.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and dietary regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
