POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary
purpose of this position is to provide high level staffing for the research
activities in the Lampe lab in the department of biological sciences. The
postdoc position provides high-level independent research capability to drive
the research related to the goals of the grant.
This is a grant funded position.
DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design of
experiments related to creating strains of bacteria that can kill malaria
parasites in mosquitoes. This includes
designing, building, and testing the genetic constructs that mediate these
properties. It also includes genetic manipulations
to the bacterial chromosome and testing the resulting strains for efficacy.
Completes other duties as assigned.
Guides/supervises
the work of others.
REQUIREMENTS: Extensive
experience required with DNA cloning, microbiology, protein biochemistry, DNA
sequencing, and genetic construct design. Experience with DNA
cloning, basic microbiology, basic protein work, ELISA, etc. Superior
communication skills. Ability to
supervise.
Minimum qualifications:
PhD in biology or vector biology from an accredited institution.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience
preferred with writing results and supervising some junior personnel.
