What you’ll be doing:
- Works with other areas as needed for member issues and needs, including Business Services, Business Lending Processing, DFS/DIS, and others to ensure any requests, needs, or challenges are acted upon appropriately.
- Successfully demonstrates effective selling skills and behaviors including loan fee generation, loan portfolio growth and production, business deposit generation, as well as referrals into Business Services and other areas of the Credit Union.
- Proactively establish and maintain connections within the communities we serve to continue building the commercial book of business within the credit union (via community events, networking, social media, email, etc.).
- Establish and negotiate, business loans and inform member of the terms under which credit will be extended, including the costs, repayment schedule and collateral requirements.
- Make calls to proactively deepen existing and build new business relationships.
- Periodically collect and analyze information which reflects the current credit worthiness of applicant. Information may be obtained by direct inspection of the applicant's business and/or collateral, review of financial statements, personal interview, etc.
- Monitor loan repayment activities and assist with collecting past due accounts, as needed.
- Meet portfolio management matrices including financial exceptions, borrowing bases, and annual reviews, and line of credit renewals.
- Should possess strong portfolio management skills as well as foundational credit skills.
- Support loan request through Business Loan Committee with a complete package, borrower background, credit recommendation, and appropriate structure. Exposures that do require committee approval will be worked jointly with a supervisor or more experience lender on the team.
- Demonstrate job knowledge to avoid challenges and deescalate as necessary.
- Complete borrower onboarding including assembling appropriate borrower background information, financial statements, and other documents to evaluate credit worthiness.
- Serve as a relationship manager and facilitate discussions with customers on all matters related to other credit union services including deposit services, insurance needs, and financial planning support. Manages transaction processes from initial engagement through final close, including structure, pricing, internal approval / compliance processes and documentation.
- Aggressively grows and maintains a profitable book of business by successfully closing deals to meet or exceed individual and department revenue, contribution, fee income, loans and deposit goals.
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field, or equivalent experience.
- 4 years’ of experience in business lending or equivalent experience.
- Excellent listening, verbal and written, and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of business financial statements and cash flows analysis.
- Knowledge of laws and regulations governing business and consumer lending practices as well as collection practices.
- Ability to systematically gather, read, retrieve, and interpret data from reports and in order to make effective decisions.
- Excellent problem solving ability.
