We are hiring a Cook Assistant who enjoys serving and caring for others through food. This position supports Dunrovin’s mission of exceptional hospitality by preparing meals for guests and occasionally staff, while helping maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming kitchen environment. The Cook Assistant will bring warmth, kindness, flexibility, and reliability to the work, and will help create a positive experience for every person who comes to Dunrovin.
15-25 hours/week, flexible
Morning, noon, and supper meals; evening shift goes no later than 9 PM
Duties
- Help prepare meals with a spirit of warm hospitality
- Use kitchen equipment safely during food prep and cooking
- Prepare ingredients using proper knife skills and safe food handling
- Follow food safety rules for cleaning, sanitation, and storage
- Work with kitchen staff to serve meals on time
- Keep work areas, utensils, and equipment clean
- Communicate clearly with Retreat Center staff and guest groups to keep things running smoothly
Requirements
- Knowledge of food preparation and basic cooking techniques
- Ability to safely and efficiently operate kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn food safety, food handling, and hygiene standards
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with kitchen staff and retreat guests
- Basic culinary skills, including knife handling, slicing, and portion control
- Strong attention to detail
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
