The Superintendent provides engineering and project support on heavy highway and bridge construction projects. This role requires strong knowledge of contract plans, specifications, subcontracts, purchase orders, and Dunnet Bay’s means and methods. Ideal candidates have 5-10 years experience on IDOT or Illinois Tollway projects.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
The role requires regular on-site presence, including accessing all areas of the construction site in varying weather conditions. Occasional tasks include transporting materials from the yard to the jobsite and working 2nd shift during certain construction phases.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Foremen, and field crews
- Schedule and manage material deliveries; verify required certifications
- Maintain daily project documentation (reports, schedules, photos)
- Monitor subcontractor schedules and progress
- Order, manage, and balance concrete pours
- Assist with project closeout, final quantities, and job cost reports
Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field OR heavy highway construction experience
- Safety-focused; OSHA 10/30 preferred
- Strong work ethic and commitment to project success
- Proficiency in MS Office; working knowledge of Bluebeam
- Ability to communicate effectively with public agencies
