Our residents share a bond of mutual respect with our staff that builds memorable and lasting relationships.OverviewThe position of Director of Development’s key initiatives is to oversee the Duncaster Foundation in meeting its mission to enrich the lives of those we serve through excellence in senior living, life enhancement activities, and person-centered care. Essential FunctionsOversees the Duncaster Foundation, including the Endowment, restricted funds and the unrestricted funds and the annual campaign including maintaining an up-to-date database, writing the campaign letter, and writing thank you letters.Cultivates new donors, through the education and increased visibility of Duncaster, Inc. and the Duncaster Foundation to residents, families, community, corporations, and service organizations.Plans and directs the organization's fundraising events and acts as the staff liaison for the Duncaster, Inc. Board, Community Outreach Committee.Manages the grant process - identify needs, finds potential grantors, writes grant proposals, makes sure funding is used properly, prepares grant reports and communicates with funders in a timely fashion.Prepares the annual operating budget for the Duncaster Foundation, monthly financial statements, annual financial statements, and worksheets for annual Financial Review and Tax Return, and submits annual budget and goals for fiscal year.Attends Duncaster Foundation Board meetings, records meeting minutes, and assists with recruitment and orientation of board members.Works in coordination with the Sales and Marketing department for public relations, advertising, and community outreach.Coordinates with other departments for all special marketing events, the publication of the periodic advertisements and brochures and writes appropriate articles.Contacts the news media with people and event stories and promotions, within the community and provides updates for websites and social media.Develops and maintains an awareness and knowledge of the Duncaster Foundation to current residents.Participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings, educational programs, and the Community Outreach Committee.Performs other duties as assigned.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in philanthropy studies or related field is required.3 years of experience in fundraising and/or development is required.Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in an understandable manner.Must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).Experience in non-profit structure and accounting.Experience in supervising and training personnel.Environment and Working ConditionsAbility to focus on task needs and perform intellectual executive functions as related to the functions of the business operation.Ability to execute intellectual tasks and duties under conditions of high demand and distraction.Ability to complete the essential functions of the position with or with adaptive personal devices (e.g., hearing aid, corrective lenses).Ability to operate equipment and technology required for the position.Must be able to communicate effectively.Able to assist with the evacuation of residents under emergency status to the best of their physical ability.Able to function independently with integrity and work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
