What You’ll Do
As a Technical Quoter, you will:
- Lead the quoting process for complex and project-based RFQs from inbound requests, intercompany teams, and field sales reps.
- Gather and assess all necessary technical and commercial information to build accurate, complete quotes.
- Communicate with vendors to secure special pricing and confirm availability or lead times.
- Identify opportunities to upsell accessories, backups, or alternative solutions that increase project value.
- Execute timely follow-up to convert open quotes into purchase orders using CRM tools and sales strategies.
- Coordinate handoffs to the Order Entry and Customer Service team to ensure a smooth post-quote transition.
- Serve as a technical resource for Outside Sales by aligning solutions to customer requirements and application needs.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to verify technical feasibility and pricing integrity.
- Quote turnaround: Most quotes completed within 24–48 hours; complex projects submitted within one week.
- Accuracy: Maintain high quoting precision and minimize errors or rework.
- Conversion: Drive strong quote-to-order ratios through persistent and thoughtful follow-up.
- Gross profit impact: Contribute to revenue through upselling and strategic quoting.
- Team collaboration: Participate in inbox monitoring, quote sharing, and team alignment.
- 7–10 years of experience in quoting, estimating, technical sales, or application engineering—preferably in industrial equipment, automation, or engineered products.
- Strong technical background with the ability to understand and configure assemblies, systems, and components for industrial applications.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for quoting tools, data analysis, margin calculation, and vendor comparison.
- Experience with ERP and CRM tools—Prophet 21 (P21) and WPCRM strongly preferred.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to convey technical and commercial information clearly.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple open quotes, and meet tight deadlines.
- High level of initiative and ownership with a customer-focused mindset.
- Industry experience in flow control, industrial valves, instrumentation, or factory automation solutions.
- Familiarity with customer and vendor portals for product research and pricing.
- Experience supporting Outside Sales and collaborating across departments (Automation, Purchasing, Tech Support).
- Familiarity with quoting SOPs, quoting booklets, or workflow checklists to ensure quote consistency.
