    JOB TITLE: Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA license)
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • OBESPA state licensure
    • Valid OSDE Credential - Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA)
    • Must pass a National Criminal History Record Check.
    REPORTS TO: Building Administrator, Special Education Director
    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Conducts speech and language screenings, without interpretation, using screening protocols provided by the supervising Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)
    • Provides direct assistance for speech language therapy to students under the direction of the supervising SLP.
    • Implements all plans/accommodations as documented in the student's IEPs.
    • Documents student progress toward meeting established IEP goals/objectives in the appropriate progress monitoring tool.
    • Assists the SPL during assessments, assisting with formal documentation, preparing materials, and performing clerical duties.
    • Prepares therapy materials and/or equipment for use in the classroom and therapy activities.
    • Assists in maintaining student records and preparing progress reports.
    • Assists in organizing therapy activities and creates/maintains an orderly and clean therapy environment.
    • Implements behavior intervention programs as written by certified staff.
    • Observes and reports significant student behavior, behavioral patterns, and/or other problems to the classroom teacher/supervising SLP.
    • Performs other duties as needed at the request of the supervising SLP and building administrator.
    LANGUAGE SKILLS:
    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to the public and other employees of the organization.
    REASONING ABILITY:
    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    Ability to cooperate in a team effort with other employees.

Students can be severe to moderately low functioning.
    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    Salary and work year to be determined by current contract.
    EVALUATION:
    Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support personnel.
