The Engine Line Team Leader - Pratt and Whitney: Provides leadership to create a team atmosphere where members are challenged to maintain engines in the safest, highest quality, most efficient means possible and to provide excellent customer service. This position manages all aspects of assigned engine projects including coordinating necessary resources, documentation and communication with team members and customers to ensure timeliness and quality of these projects; and acts as a positive role model by mentoring team members, supporting company and shop decisions, and communicating goals and objectives. In addition, the team leader inspects, services, repairs and troubleshoots engines, components and systems in a safe and organized work area to meet manufacturer's specifications and completes all required paperwork.

Essential Job Functions

  • Manages all aspects of assigned engine projects to ensure safety, quality and efficiency throughout the projects. Accepts full ownership of assigned projects from pre-planning to delivery of the engine through planning, prioritizing and communicating with customers, team members, OEM's, outside contractors and vendors as necessary. Ensures the safety and security of customer's equipment during all maintenance phases.
  • Oversees, completes and maintains accurate and timely engine and project documentation including reviewing preliminary reports to ensure accuracy of forecasted and billed labor hours. Reviews work orders, invoices, etc. to ensure timely and accurate inventory allocation, appropriate sign-off language, and accurate charges for labor and outside services are applied prior to billing. Participates in reviewing of the final invoice with appropriate management and sales team members for profitability, accuracy, accountability and documentation. Assists professionally and courteously in addressing customer billing disputes and work order reviews for maintenance actions performed by team members.
  • Manages team by scheduling and assigning work for team members and monitoring day-to-day activities of team members. Holds team members accountable to Duncan approved policies and procedures include professionalism, safety and cleanliness of the work environment. Ensures the team's consistent use of appropriate technical data.
  • Promotes growth and development of assigned team members to promote team cohesiveness and trust by monitoring and evaluating team members' performance in a professional, positive, accurate and timely manner. Recommends training needs and programs to the department management and identifies and recommends technical and non-technical training opportunities for team members. Oversees and ensures active participation of team members in the departmental mentoring program. Participates in personal and leadership development opportunities and demonstrates leadership and professionalism at all times.
  • Performs high quality inspections, servicing and maintenance of aircraft engines, systems and components on a variety of aircraft engines using proper hand tools in a timely, clean, safe and professional manner with minimal rework in accordance with Duncan Aviation approved procedures, appropriate maintenance manuals and appropriate technical data. Efficiently and effectively troubleshoots, function tests and repairs the most complicated aircraft engine systems across a variety of aircraft engines. Orders general parts as needed. Performs RII functions as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.


Job Specific Requirements

  • Licenses/Certificates: Powerplant Certificate required; Airframe Certificate preferred; Fork Lift qualified; Mobile and Overhead Crane Certification; Run Taxi and RII eligible; valid driver's license and acceptable driving record; tool inventory per department tool list required
  • Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required; overnight and short notice travel
  • Physical: Routinely lifts up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs.; reads small print; hears sounds associated with mechanical deficiencies; repetitive motion; works with moving parts and vibration; tolerates products, materials and fumes associated with component maintenance; tolerates working in confined spaces and heights above four feet; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and sitting
  • Environmental: Tolerates working in extreme temperatures and in noisy environments


Education And Experience

  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • Six years related engine/airframe maintenance experience preferred
  • Previous leadership and supervisory experience preferred
