SUMMARY
Develop orthopedic implants and instruments from conception through commercialization. This may include attending development meetings and brainstorming sessions; creating solid models and drawings; create and maintain design control documentation; work with manufacturing, quality control, and testing vendors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop orthopedic implants and instruments from conception through commercialization
- Attend development meetings and brainstorming sessions
- Create solid models and drawings utilizing CAD software
- Perform FEA analysis on orthopedic implants and document report
- Develop relationships with manufacturers and other vendors. Place orders for prototype implants and instruments, testing, and items as required
- Prepare and maintain the design history file and other design control documentation
- Write protocols, perform biomechanical testing, and document reports of the test findings
- Perform preliminary searches with regard to potential patents or 510k submittals
- Assist with the technical bulletins, press releases and other sales and marketing info via the web and website
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Bachelor of Science in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering
- 3-5 years in developing medical implants and instruments
- Analytical thinker who enjoys solving mechanical problems
- Highly motivated individual who works well in a team environment
- Proficient with SolidWorks 3D modeling package (Solid Simulation a plus)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires routine walking, standing, bending, and sitting. Routine and frequent use of a computer is required. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

COMPENSATION
This position will be a salary position and will be based on experience. It will be a fulltime position at the home office in Greenville, AL.
