Responsibilities
- Perform dental prophylaxis, including cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth to prevent decay and gum disease.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including taking vital signs and reviewing medical histories.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care strategies.
- Manage electronic health records using EMR systems like Dentrix to ensure accurate documentation of treatments and medical records.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Collaborate with dentists and dental assistants to coordinate patient care plans effectively.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental terminology and dental coding for accurate documentation.
- Experience with dental software such as Dentrix for scheduling, billing, and record keeping.
- Knowledge of general dentistry procedures along with specialized areas like pediatric dentistry, orthodontics, endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery.
- Ability to perform patient assessments including vital signs measurement and medical documentation.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy is maintained at all times.
- Excellent communication skills to explain treatment options clearly and compassionately to patients of all ages.
- Previous experience working in a busy dental clinic or office setting is highly preferred.
