Responsibilities
The Journeys and Adventures that Await:
- examine patient’s eyes to diagnose vision problems and eye diseases
- refract in Plus Cylinder
- prescribe eyeglasses
- perform ancillary testing and analyze test results
- develop a treatment plan
- prescribe topical medications to treat certain eye diseases
- provide preoperative and postoperative care to cataract patients, as well as to patients who have had laser vision correction or other eye surgery
- diagnose conditions caused by systemic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure, referring patients to Duly ophthalmologists or other specialists for necessary treatment
The Experiences You Bring:
- must have exceptional communication skills with patients
- must be able to work closely with ophthalmologists to provide a full range of eye care
- must be able to adjust work pace to accommodate patients
- must be able to analyze complex medical data and test results and develop treatment and testing plans
- Doctor of Optometry degree from an optometry school accredited by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education of the American Optometric Association
- Licensed Optometrist by the State of Illinois (or ability to attain Illinois Licensure)
