Summary
Duluth Public Schools is seeking an individual to assist teachers, other licensed staff, and parents with the educational and social activities, as well as the care and feeding, of pre-school and elementary school age children. Assists in creating an appropriate educational environment for children.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED certificate and at least three months experience working with pre-school children.
60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits or a passing score on the Parapro Assessment test
Desirable Qualifications
Knowledgable in child development and parenting
General understanding of early childhood programs and standards
Ability to work cooperatively with children and adults
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, parents, staff and community
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to perform physical aspects of position
Ability to observe and record accurately
Ability to meet federal/state guidelines (where appropriate) and/or to successfully complete specified in-service courses
Demonstrated understanding of issues around economic poverty, privilege, racism, equity and diversity
Effective verbal/written communication skills

This is a temporary position through June 09, 2023 per Article 7, Section 2 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
