Auto Body Painter

Job Summary
Dulles Coachworks is seeking a skilled Auto Body Painter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for automotive repair, keen eye for detail, and a strong understanding of various techniques and tools required to restore vehicles to the OEM standard. This role involves working on a variety of vehicles, preparing and application of all refinish coatings ( primer, sealer, base coat, clear coat, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Surface Preparation: Your expertise in a smooth vehicle surface preparation is crucial for achieving flawless paint jobs. You will be responsible for cleaning, sanding, and masking surfaces, ensuring they are smooth and ready for painting. By meticulously preparing the smooth surface, you will lay the foundation for impeccable paint application.
• Mixing and Color Matching: As an auto body paint technician, you will demonstrate your exceptional color matching skills utilizing the vehicle’s original color code or by creating custom shades. Using a computerized color-matching systems and following manufacturer specifications will help achieve accurate results. You will mix and color match paint colors to achieve accurate color reproduction, ensuring a seamless blend with the vehicle's existing paint. Your ability to achieve precise color matching will contribute to the overall aesthetic appeal of the finished product.
• Paint Application Techniques: Utilizing a variety of prep work and paint application techniques, including spraying, solvents, and clear coats using spray guns or other specialized equipment. Use proper spraying techniques to achieve an even, flawless finish. Your skilled application techniques will ensure even and consistent paint coats, polish, enhancing the overall appearance of the vehicle.
• Attention to Detail: Attention to detail is essential in achieving high-quality paint finishes. You will meticulously inspect your work, ensuring that there are no paint defects, such as scratches, chips, or unevenness. Your commitment to detail will result in exceptional outcomes that exceed customer expectations.

Additionally, you’ll communicate with supervisors to clarify painting specifications and preferences. Maintaining accurate records of materials used and work performed is essential for billing and tracking purposes. By working effectively with others, you’ll help ensure projects are completed on time and contribute to a positive, productive work atmosphere.

Requirements

• Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required for the job. This level of education equips you with the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary for the role.
• Experience: We are looking for individuals with proven experience as an Auto Body Paint Technician or in a similar role. Your previous experience will demonstrate your competence in automotive painting techniques and processes.
• Paint Knowledge: A strong understanding of different paint types, color matching, and application techniques is essential. Your knowledge of paint properties and their appropriate use will contribute to achieving high-quality paint finishes.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in using mixing systems and other paint-related tools is crucial for this role. Your ability to operate equipment effectively will enable you to achieve desired finishes with precision.
• Attention to Detail: Attention to detail is vital in automotive painting. Your keen eye for detail will ensure that paint application is smooth, even, and free from defects. This attention to detail extends to color matching and surface preparation as well.
• Teamwork: The ability to work both independently and collaboratively is important. You will collaborate closely with other team members, including auto body technicians, to ensure seamless workflow and timely completion of projects.
