Qualifications:
· High school diploma or GED required. · Must meet New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) licensure requirements for Educational Assistants. · Passage of Paraprofessional Assessment or completion of at least 48 college credit hours (if required by district) to attain Level III Educational Assistant Licensure. · Experience working with children in an educational setting is preferred. · Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents. · Ability to remain calm, patient, and flexible in a variety of situations. · Must successfully pass a criminal background check and any other required state and federal screening
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Assist teachers with instructional preparation and delivery, including small-group or one-on-one student support. · Support students in understanding and completing assignments, reinforcing learning concepts introduced by the teacher. · Provide accommodations and modifications as outlined in student IEPs, 504 Plans, or individualized learning plans. · Monitor student behavior and implement positive behavior support strategies under teacher or administrator direction. · Assist with classroom organization, instructional materials, technology, and record-keeping. · Supervise students in various settings, including classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, buses, and field trips. · Support personal care needs of students as required (e.g., mobility, feeding, hygiene, toileting) while maintaining dignity and respect.
