Role Summary
The Traveling Elementary PE Teacher is responsible for delivering a developmentally appropriate physical education curriculum across multiple primary school sites. You will focus on fundamental movement skills, rhythmic activities, and social-emotional growth through play. This role requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to adapt to different spaces and school cultures while maintaining a consistent, high-quality program for our littlest athletes.

- Certified Professional: Valid Missouri Teaching Certification in K-12 Physical Education.
- Early Childhood Expert: You have a deep understanding of gross motor development for children ages 4–8.
- Master of Engagement: You know how to keep a class of 1st graders focused, moving, and safe through positive reinforcement and structured play.
- Adaptable & Mobile: You possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between school sites, with the ability to "set up shop" and be effective in various environments.
- Safety Mindset: Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) and a commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive environment for students of all physical abilities.
Your Impact (Key Duties)
- Instructional Energy: Design and lead lessons that focus on locomotor skills (running, hopping, skipping) and non-locomotor skills (balancing, stretching).
- Social-Emotional Coaching: Use PE as a venue to teach sharing, following directions, and "good sportsmanship" at an introductory level.
- Inclusive Activity: Adapt games and activities to ensure students with diverse physical needs and developmental levels can participate fully and successfully.
- Health Integration: Briefly introduce foundational concepts of nutrition, heart health, and how the body works in a way that is accessible to K-2 learners.
- Site Collaboration: Work closely with classroom teachers and building principals at each site to coordinate schedules and support school-wide wellness initiatives.
- Equipment Stewardship: Manage and transport mobile PE equipment, ensuring it is used safely and stored properly at each location.
