Overview
We are a busy, patient-focused podiatry medical practice seeking a friendly, organized, and reliable Front Desk Receptionist / Medical Scheduler to join our healthcare team. This role is the first point of contact for patients and is essential to providing excellent customer service, accurate appointment scheduling, and smooth daily clinic operations. In addition to front desk and scheduling duties, this position will assist and provide coverage for Medical Assistants (MA) as needed to support efficient patient flow and high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients professionally in person and over the phone
- Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments for multiple providers
- Maintain and coordinate a high-volume medical appointment calendar
- Verify patient demographics and insurance eligibility; collect copays and payments
- Answer multi-line phones and route calls appropriately
- Enter and maintain accurate patient information in EMR/EHR systems
- Manage referrals, follow-up visits, and urgent appointments
- Communicate appointment details, preparation instructions, and reminders
- Perform patient check-in and check-out duties
- Maintain a clean, organized front desk and waiting area
- Assist Medical Assistants during patient visits as needed
- Prepare exam rooms, restock supplies, and maintain clinical areas
- Escort patients to and from exam rooms
- Provide basic clinical support tasks within training and clinic policy
- Support efficient patient flow during busy clinic hours
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient confidentiality
Qualifications & Skills
- Medical front desk, medical receptionist, or medical scheduling experience required
- Experience scheduling for multiple providers strongly preferred
- Knowledge of insurance verification, authorizations, and referral processes
- Strong customer service, communication, and phone etiquette skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare or medical office environment
- Proficient with EMR/EHR software and basic computer skills
- Professional, dependable, and patient-focused
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Team-oriented with a positive, flexible attitude
- Adaptable to changing priorities and daily clinic needs
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
