Assistant Coach

The Dubuque Fighting Saints are one of the premier organizations in the United States Hockey League (USHL), committed to developing elite hockey players, outstanding students, and high-character young men. Our mission is to prepare players for NCAA Division I hockey, professional opportunities, and lifelong success while competing for championships.

The Fighting Saints are seeking a full-time Assistant Coach to join our hockey operations staff. This is an entry-level coaching opportunity designed for a motivated, development-focused coach who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a championship-caliber organization.

The Assistant Coach will work directly with the Head Coach and General Manager in all aspects of hockey operations, player development, recruiting, and team management.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Coach during all games, practices, skill sessions, and team activities.
• Assist with practice planning, game preparation, and individual player development.
• Operate video software and assist with pre-scouts, game breakdown, and player teaching clips.
• Assist in teaching team systems, special teams, and individual skill development.
• Support player academic monitoring and personal development initiatives.
• Assist with team travel logistics and daily hockey operations.
• Complete scouting and recruiting assignments as directed.
• Communicate professionally with prospective players, families, advisors, and scouts.
• Assist in organizing and executing the team's Main Tryout Camp, Development Camp, including invitations, communication, player evaluation, and overall camp administration.
• Support the Head Coach and General Manager with additional hockey operations responsibilities as assigned.

• Previous coaching and/or playing experience at the junior, collegiate, professional, or high-level youth hockey level.
• Passion for player development and teaching.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of hockey video software and technology.
• Ability to teach and demonstrate all aspects of team systems, including special teams.
• Strong work ethic with a willingness to contribute in all areas of hockey operations.
• Ability to build positive relationships with players, staff, families, billets, and community partners.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays, camps, and extensive travel throughout the hockey season.

This is an entry-level full-time assistant coaching position best suited for an emerging coach seeking significant hands-on experience, mentorship, and professional growth within one of the premier organizations in junior hockey.

Compensation is consistent with an entry-level USHL assistant coaching position and will be discussed with qualified candidates during the interview process.
