What are the responsibilities and job description for the 26-27 Multicategorical Paraprofessional position at Dubuque Community Schools?
$16.85 per hour for 26-27 school year
These positions will officially open mid-July for openings that vary in various schools. Specific openings will be posted at that date, but please start early if you are thinking about working as a DCSD para next school year.

Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma
- Keyboarding skills
- Successful completion of or willingness to successfully complete training in dealing with behavioral interactions with students
- Successful completion of or willingness to successfully complete training in instructional support
- Physical and emotional stamina to meet daily student care needs
Desirable Qualifications
- Post high school coursework
- Experience working with children
Basic Function: This person will be working with students, teachers and other building staff members to assist in the delivery of the educational program.
The paraprofessional hired must be able to:
- Demonstrate professionalism in the workplace and in the community
- Communicate clearly and appropriately with students and staff
- Work effectively and cooperatively with others
- Follow directions of supervising teacher and building administrator(s)
- Exercise maturity and sound judgment in making decisions
- Maintain accurate records
- Assist teacher in computer entry of data and the application of technology
- Maintain effective discipline based on the policies and guidelines of the District
- Provide input and feedback to supervising teacher as requested
- Support guided practice or monitor educational program as directed
- Assist with accommodations for students with special needs
- Maintain confidentiality
- Demonstrate a willingness to participate in staff development
- Meet the daily care student needs, including, but not limited to lifting, repositioning, diapering, toileting, restraining, etc.
- Possession of a valid driver's license. May be required to transport students in personal vehicle.
- Communicate with parent when appropriate
- Supervise children on the playground and in the lunchroom
- Perform other duties as assigned
Other Requirements:
- Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk and climb stairs
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Model to students and peers a commitment to appropriate public behavior toward all students, workplace, colleagues and the public
