What are the responsibilities and job description for the Life Coach position at Dubuque Community School District?
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required in counseling, social work, psychology, education, or health care area.
- Possess personal qualities of honesty, flexibility, approachability, enthusiasm, and sense of humor.
- Demonstrated ability to develop positive mentoring/coaching relationships with a diverse, at-risk student population.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Specific skills-based competencies to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job; demonstrated interpersonal skills, technology skills, and oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability working with social services and organization of individual and family services.
- “Failure is not an option” attitude.
- Support at-risks students in their pursuit of an education in the Dubuque Community School District.
- Develop and maintain relationships with students that focus on overcoming barriers to success.
- Establish and maintain communication links with community agencies that serve homeless, neglected, delinquent, and disengaged students.
- Maintain accurate records (confidential and non-confidential) of all contacts with various client groups, support personnel, and agencies in the community for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail of services provided.
- Work with students, staff, parents, and guardians for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems, resolving conflicts, referring to appropriate professionals, and in general supporting students throughout high school.
- Conduct transcript, academic, and behavior data reviews for each identified student for the purpose of personalizing services for each student.
- Assist in the development of an intervention plan for each identified student for the purpose of insuring students’ success in meeting graduation goals.
- Assist in the transition of students from elementary school to middle school and middle school to high school.
- Others duties as assigned
- 201 day contract (includes 7 paid holidays); $24.21 per hour; 7 hours per day
