• Design and implement comprehensive ELA curricula aligned with state standards, incorporating creative writing, journalism, and literacy education techniques.
• Develop engaging lesson plans that integrate instructional design principles, learning technology tools, and research-based practices to enhance student understanding.
• Utilize AP style guidelines for teaching writing, editing, proofreading, and copy editing skills across various assignments.
• Foster a positive classroom environment through effective classroom management strategies, behavior management techniques, and personalized support for diverse learners including those in special education settings.
• Mentor students in developing strong communication skills through activities such as creative writing projects, standardized test preparation, and academic advising sessions.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development initiatives, instructional design improvements, and integration of library services to enrich learning experiences.
• Assess student progress regularly using formative and summative assessments, standardized testing data, and ongoing feedback to tailor instruction accordingly. Qualifications
• Valid certification as a Middle School English Language Arts Teacher or equivalent credentials.
• Proven classroom experience working with middle school students in diverse educational settings.
• Strong knowledge of curriculum development, literacy education strategies, and instructional best practices.
• Familiarity with AP style, copy editing, proofreading, and journalism principles.
• Experience integrating learning technology tools and digital resources into classroom instruction.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan lessons effectively and manage classroom behavior proactively.
• Demonstrated mentoring abilities with a focus on supporting student growth in writing skills and academic achievement.
