After School Care Attendant JOB DESCRIPTION The After School Care Attendant is responsible for supervising students in grades K-8 during after school care from 2:30-6 p.m. This includes ensuring that they are orderly and productive, and making sure their playtime is safe. May involve mediating conflicts, enforcing rules, and tutoring students in basic subjects/ ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Supervises students while they are in after school care Supervise clean up of the After School Care classroom Supervise lunch from 12-1p.m. Supervise playgrounds while students play between 2:30 and 6 p.m. Monitor safe play on play structures Intervene when unsafe behavior is seen Refer students for discipline when physical contact or other significant behavior issues arise QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to pass a background check and drug screening Good communication skills with students, staff and parents Ability to move about without restrictions in performing the above essential functions Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships Spanish speaking preferred but not required PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. The employee regularly is required to walk up and down a small hill, and walk around the compus.
