The Impact You Will Have in This Role

The Development family is responsible for creating, designing, deploying, and supporting applications, programs, and software solutions used internally and externally across the firm’s product platforms. This includes activities such as research, new development, prototyping, enhancement, reuse, reengineering, and ongoing maintenance of software products. The software development process requires deep subject‑matter expertise in modern and emerging development methodologies, tools, and programming languages.

Software Engineers work closely with business partners, architects, product managers, project teams, and end users to define requirements and implement solutions that address complex business needs. The role specializes in planning and documenting technical requirements, as well as designing, developing, testing, and enhancing enterprise software systems. Engineers are expected to propose and recommend scalable, secure, and efficient solutions.

We are seeking a seasoned Backend / Database Engineer with strong Oracle PL/SQL expertise and modern Java backend experience to support the design, development, and optimization of scalable, data‑driven applications. This role partners closely with application, data, and analytics teams and contributes to cloud‑based, microservices‑driven solutions that support the firm’s business objectives.

Your Primary Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain Oracle SQL and PL/SQL components, including tables, views, packages, procedures, and triggers.
• Build, tune, and optimize complex SQL queries to support application functionality, reporting, and performance needs.
• Develop and support Java/J2EE backend applications using Spring Boot (Java 17 or higher).
• Design and consume REST APIs within a microservices‑based architecture.
• Work with XML/XSD and JSON for data exchange and system integrations.
• Collaborate on data warehousing and ETL processes supporting analytics and business intelligence solutions.
• Develop and support reporting and analytics solutions using Snowflake, Power BI, and/or Tableau.
• Ensure database security, performance, and reliability across all environments.
• Integrate applications into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Git, Jenkins, Maven, and Jacoco.
• Participate in Agile development ceremonies and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
• (Preferred) Support containerized deployments using OpenShift, Docker, and Kubernetes in cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• 6-8 years of experience in backend and database development.

Talent Needed for Success

• Strong, hands‑on expertise in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL (required).
• Active development experience in Java/J2EE, with demonstrated proficiency in Java 17 or higher.
• Strong backend framework experience using Spring Boot.
• Experience working with RESTful services, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience with Snowflake and at least one reporting/BI tool (Power BI or Tableau).
• Solid understanding of relational database design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
• Experience working with CI/CD tools and version control systems.
• Familiarity with ETL tools, data warehousing concepts, and analytics workflows.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Hands‑on exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
• Knowledge of database security best practice.
• Experience working in large‑scale enterprise environments.
• Working knowledge of ServiceNow and JIRA (request creation, tracking, and status updates)
• Strong communication skills with experience supporting Director‑level and above stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and deliver multiple efforts using shared resources

The salary range is indicative for roles at the same level within DTCC across all US locations.
