Assists with operating natural gas pipeline associated equipment including but not limited to reciprocating natural gas compressors, dehydrators, fluid separating equipment, valves, gas/liquid measurement equipment, etc. Operating the equipment and system may include, but is not limited to:

Key Accountabilities
Assists with operating natural gas pipeline associated equipment including but not limited to reciprocating natural gas compressors, dehydrators, fluid separating equipment, valves, gas/liquid measurement equipment, etc. Operating the equipment and system may include, but is not limited to:
- Start-up/shutdown of equipment
- Adjusting controls to bring equipment into recommended or prescribed operating ranges
- Visually inspecting equipment and controls at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment, or lubrication
- De-pressuring equipment and pipelines
- Purging/pressurizing equipment and pipelines
- Performing pipeline patrols
- Performing gas leakage surveys
- Locating and marking underground pipelines
- Operating valves
- Implements safe work practices and a proactive safety culture while ensuring safety for the employee, the public, and the environment at all times.
- Ensures regulatory compliance and record keeping requirements are met and continually monitored. The regulations include but are not limited to the Department of Transportation, Railroad Commission, and Operator Qualification Plans.
- Reads, monitors, and records various conditions such as pressures, temperatures, hours of operation, fuel consumed, water levels, and monitors gauges.
- Performs minor maintenance on equipment including but not limited to reciprocating natural gas compressors, dehydrators, fluid separating equipment, valves, etc.
- Performs other duties and special projects as may be assigned by supervisor.
- Currently enrolled in an Associate degree program or technical certification from an accredited institution.
- Graduating high school seniors who have been accepted to begin college in the fall are eligible to apply if they will be at least 18 years of age prior to their start date. A college acceptance letter must be provided.
- Students must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
- College students will be asked to provide an official transcript as proof of eligibility prior to receiving an offer of employment.
- Some assignments will require driving. Those positions will require the student to have a valid driver’s license, a reliable means of transportation, and an acceptable driving record.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple job requests in a timely manner.
- Works well as a member of a group or team.
