What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAD Drafter position at DST llc?
Summary
This is an entry level CAD Drafter position. The CAD Drafter is responsible for the creation of 3D models of primary and secondary aircraft structures as well as 2D engineering drawings of parts, assemblies, and installations.
The CAD Drafter is responsible for engineering data management as well as collaborating with the mechanical engineers to support the internal fabrication, assembly and installation personnel to ensure proper engineering data is being utilized and is available.
Essential Functions
- Attendance in office.
- Performs 3D modeling, utilizing SolidWorks software, of existing aircraft components to accurately represent surrounding structure of new designs.
- Creates 3D models of all new parts and assemblies.
- Creates 2D drawings, utilizing SolidWorks software, of all parts, assemblies, and installations.
- Interfaces with and is a POC for internal fabrication, assembly, and installation personnel.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm with a one-hour unpaid lunch. A single work from home day, ideally Tuesday or Thursday, can be assessed after the first 90 days in the role.
Travel
Occasional travel to other customer sites, both domestic and international, may be required. Travel can consist of 1-2 days or up to 3 weeks.
Required Education and Experience
Drafting or CAD certification.
Extensive knowledge of SolidWorks or comparable design software.
Understanding of 2D drawing requirements and dimensional standards per ASME Y.14.
Extensive knowledge of PCs, operating systems and Microsoft office software.
Preferred Education and Experience
- One to two (1 -2) years’ of experience as a CAD Drafter.
- Experience within the aviation industry.
Other Hiring Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License.
- U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain/maintain a United States Security Clearance.
- Must pass a DOT/FAA regulated drug screening.
