Key Roles & Responsibilities

DSST Public Schools (DSST) seeks a Senior Manager of Educational Technology to join one of the leading charter school organizations in Colorado. DSST Public Schools’ mission is to transform urban public education by eliminating educational inequity and preparing all students for success in college and the 21st century.

The Senior Manager of Educational Technology is the key driver in leveraging technology as a tool to improve student outcomes. This role oversees every element of the education technology landscape, from driving consistent high-level use of Infinite Campus, to managing both the LMS and assessment system, to ensuring an excellent technology experience at the classroom level, to impacting the roadmap of internal software tools. This position requires someone with experience with managing systems, collaborating with other departments, driving change and working with a wide variety of education technology products from a district-based perspective.

Essential Functions

50% - Oversee and drive DSST’s ecosystem of education technology tools

  • Serve as the first contact for Tier II support of educational technology systems and assist staff to quickly resolve problems they encounter in their use of core tools
  • Serve as the Product Manager and primary support for Canvas, the network Learning Management System
  • Serve as the Product Manager and primary support for Pear Assessment, the network assessment system
  • Collaborate with managers from Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment, as well as the Academic Program team to ensure that current tools meet the academic needs of DSST schools
  • Project manager for all Pear Assessment assessments; includes but is not limited to Network Assessments, Benchmarks, Unit Assessments, and curriculum aligned mastery checks.
  • Create, run, and improve systems for annual and ongoing selection, procurement and purchasing process of digital learning tools for each DSST school
  • Collect feedback from school-based staff about their technology needs and ensure that their voices are heard in key network technology decisions
  • Manage vendor relationships to improve the implementation of their tools and impact the roadmap of those tools based on the needs of our schools
  • Coordinate with Senior Manager of Help Desk staff to facilitate communications between groups, through meetings and documentation to ensure both teams are aware and prepared for emerging tech needs

30% - Manage the student information pipeline, ensuring that critical data within DSST’s student information system (including scheduling, grades, and transcripts) is entered and collected in an efficient and effective way.

  • Document, train, and iterate upon procedures for ensuring accurate input, distribution, and storage of student data in the School Information System(SIS), Infinite Campus
  • Create and manage a manual of scheduling procedures
  • Preside over the Lead Schedulers at all schools, tracking their identification by SDs, training them, ensuring they are familiar and up-to-date with best practices and leading regular meetings and trainings.
  • Coordinate with Operations team and Academic Program team to communicate with school staff to ensure that student data—including schedules, grades, and transcripts—meet our high bar of excellence for data integrity and efficient systematization
  • Explore and analyze data to identify trends and flags that schools can leverage to be more proactive in their approach to utilizing student data

10% - Create network systems that ensure teachers are trained and empowered to leverage existing education technology

  • Work with the Academic Program team to design and schedule training on ed tech tools that is meaningfully connected to academic goals and practices.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve the delivery of digital training and professional development materials for teachers
  • Create instructional and training resources to help teachers more effectively and innovatively leverage instructional technology in their classrooms
  • Collaborate with teachers to help address instructional needs through innovative uses of new and existing education technology tools
  • Support a team of School Technology Leads from each DSST school to ensure teachers have the tools and support they need

10% - Help shape and drive the vision for educational technology in DSST

  • Partner with the Director of Academic & Business Systems to build a vision for ed tech in DSST and drive toward that vision.
  • Use analytic and project management skills to add value to technology processes not directly related to classroom instruction
  • Test and provide feedback on new software tools

5% - Support DSST Network events and priorities as needed

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 4 years' experience with common Education Technology applications (e.g. Infinite Campus, Google Classroom, IXL, NewsELA, etc.)
  • At least 4 years' experience implementing classroom-based structures to improve student outcomes through creative use of technology
  • At least 4 years' experience supporting ed tech tools at the administrative level.
  • At least 4 years working knowledge of common data tools (e.g. Excel)
  • Bachelor's Degree required from accredited university

Ideal Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of professional experience with 2 years of experience in education (classroom experience preferred)
