What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Specialist, cGMP Manufacturing position at DSM-Firmenich - Princeton?

A day in this roleAt 3:45 AM, you’re on the floor—walking the production lines, listening for telltale bearing noise, checking utilities, and scanning the wastewater treatment system. A call comes in: a pneumatic valve on a process skid is sticking. You isolate the issue, reference the schematic, rebuild the actuator, and bring the line back within spec. Later, you move to preventive maintenance on an air handling unit, log readings on compressors and boilers, and wrap the day by fabricating a custom bracket on the mill to close out a reliability action item. Throughout, you operate with cGMP discipline, follow SOPs, and keep safety and quality front and center.
What you’ll take on- Provide immediate preventive and corrective maintenance for production lines, facility systems, and the wastewater treatment plant in alignment with KPIs, cGMPs, SOPs, and regulatory/safety standards.
- Troubleshoot, repair/rebuild, and service pumps and pumping systems, pneumatic controls, manual and actuated valves, agitators/seals, and motor bearings.
- Operate and maintain utilities: air handling units (HVAC), hot water pumps, motors, electrical panels, environmental sensors, coolers, boilers, air compressors, and substations.
- Use machine shop tools—drill press, grinder, milling machine, gas and electric welders, and power cutting tools—to fabricate/repair components.
- Overhaul and install new equipment to improve reliability and throughput.
- Diagnose mechanical/electrical faults using blueprints/schematics, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
- Rebuild and fabricate parts; document work and escalate risks promptly.
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by Arcadia leadership.
- Vocational or Associate’s degree in an electrical or maintenance-related field—or equivalent education and experience.
- 1 year of relevant, hands-on maintenance experience.
- Availability for training/orientation Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM for 4 weeks.
- Preferred: diagnostics and PM experience in GMP biotech/pharmaceutical/food environments.
Hourly: $20.53–$29.23, based on job-related skills, experience, education/training, and primary work location.
