Trade Compliance Analyst

Location: South Charlotte Metro Area
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days remote)

Our client is seeking a Trade Compliance Analyst to support and strengthen our global import and export compliance operations. This role goes beyond transactional processing and administration, requiring an analytical professional who can investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions to ensure compliance with customs regulations and international trade requirements.

The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of HTS classification, customs regulations, and import/export compliance, along with the ability to leverage data and technology to improve processes and visibility across the organization. This individual will collaborate with Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement, Finance, and external customs brokers to ensure compliant and efficient movement of goods globally.

• Analyze and maintain accurate HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) classifications for imported products.
• Investigate classification discrepancies, missing product information, customs documentation errors, and compliance exceptions.
• Perform root cause analysis on trade compliance issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to obtain missing product data required for customs classification and regulatory compliance.
• Support import and export compliance activities, ensuring adherence to U.S. Customs regulations and company policies.
• Collaborate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies to resolve clearance issues and compliance concerns.
• Review customs entry documentation, broker activity, and tariff classifications for accuracy.
• Monitor regulatory changes impacting customs and trade compliance programs.
• Develop reporting and dashboards that provide visibility into compliance metrics and trade activity.
• Utilize data analytics tools to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for process improvement.
• Support audits, compliance reviews, and customs inquiries.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance trade compliance processes and controls.
• Assist in training internal stakeholders on trade compliance requirements and best practices.
  
  

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, International Business, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 3 years of experience in Trade Compliance, Customs Compliance, Global Trade, Import/Export, or a related function.
• Strong experience with HTS classification and customs regulations.
• Experience working directly with customs brokers and managing import/export compliance activities.
• Demonstrated ability to investigate issues, perform root cause analysis, and resolve compliance discrepancies.
• Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  
  

• Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) strongly preferred. ***
• Experience with U.S. Customs regulations, tariff classification, and global trade compliance programs.
• Experience utilizing Power BI for reporting and dashboard creation.
• Exposure to AI-driven tools, automation, or advanced analytics solutions within supply chain or trade compliance environments.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or similar platforms.
• Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), Certified Export Specialist (CES), or related trade compliance certifications.
