The Campus Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment on school campuses while providing professional, customer-focused security services. This role requires strong situational awareness, professionalism, and the ability to interact effectively with students, parents, staff, and the public.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, parents, and visitors
- Provide general security services in accordance with client requirements and DSI post orders
- Remain visible to deter unacceptable behavior and promote campus safety
- Respond promptly and appropriately to emergency situations, including fights, medical incidents, or other security concerns
- Observe, correct, and report hazards, incidents, and suspicious activity
- Interact professionally with students, parents, staff, visitors, and members of the public
- Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and other security personnel
- Remain at assigned post until properly relieved
- Complete required reports and documentation accurately and timely
- Comply with DSI and client policies, post instructions, and Code of Ethics
- Participate in required training and ongoing security education
- Present a professional appearance and conduct at all times
Qualifications & Position Requirements
- Minimum 21 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid State of Florida Class D Security License (required)
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable transportation and means of communication
- Preferred: 5 years of experience in military or law enforcement (experience working with children or youth strongly preferred)
- Strong customer service orientation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Intermediate computer skills
- Ability to perform routine foot patrols, mobile patrols, moderate lifting, and work in all weather conditions
- Must pass all required background checks and drug screenings
