Diesel Mechanic Service Technician

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty trucks and trailers, including belly dump, side dump, and water trailers. In this role, you will help keep our fleet operating safely, efficiently, and reliably.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose issues with diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspensions, brakes, electrical systems, and wheel alignment
• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on trucks and trailers
• Complete routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, shock and strut replacement, and air brake adjustments
• Repair or replace parts including brakes, transmissions, rear ends, suspensions, hydraulic cylinders, electrical wiring, shocks, and struts
• Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques for repairs and custom modifications
• Assist with assembly and disassembly of complex equipment components
• Operate heavy equipment safely during repair and testing to confirm proper function
• Maintain accurate service records, including repairs completed, parts used, and procedures followed
• Communicate repair findings and maintenance recommendations clearly through service documentation
• Follow all safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of diesel mechanic experience
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, HVAC systems, and suspension components
• Experience using diagnostic tools and reading schematics
• Hands-on fabrication experience, including welding and soldering
• Familiarity with tractors and trailers
• Ability to lift heavy parts and work in physically demanding conditions
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Valid driver’s license required
• ASE, CDL, or manufacturer-specific certifications are a plus
• Strong communication skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $50.00 per hour
