Job Description

DSDT is hiring a Career Services Manager for its Student centric (all-around) career services department. The Career Services Manager is responsible for providing career services and job placement support all student graduates. The Career Services Manager builds and maintains strong relationships with employer affiliates, externship and apprenticeship programs. The Career Services Manager meets regularly with each student, upon enrollment, midway through their respective program and upon graduation, to help the student/ graduate develop an Individual Employment Plan, and provide ongoing job referrals and support, all with a goal of assisting participants to address their barriers and gain sustainable employment, resume building and

Career-Readiness training. The Career Services Manager reports directly the Director of Administration and works in partnership with the Director of Job Placement. The Career Service Manager is an integral part of our organization committed to making a significant and lasting impact in the lives of hundreds of people every year.

Job Duties

  • Has a passion and a calling for working one-on-one with adults who need additional support to be successful in their careers.
  • Has a strong work ethic and organizational skills.
  • Reaches out to gain new employer affiliate contracts and Employer evaluation form procurement.
  • Data analysis and tracking of analytics on graduation, placement and job placement efforts.
  • Has a strong understanding of externship programs, retention, placement and graduation rates.
  • Enjoys working in the community and meeting new people; extroverted with strong relationship-building skills.
  • Has an aptitude for motivating job seekers, and a toolkit of resources to help those job seekers set goals, as well as find, obtain, and stay in a career.
  • Maintains professional boundaries while treating individuals with respect and compassion.
  • Remains calm under pressure; handles emotionally challenging situations with professionalism and intention.
  • Career readiness training and resume development course training
  • Maintains contact with new, graduated and previous students daily through emails, text messages and one-on-one career counsels.
  • Is highly skilled at classroom management; has experience training adult learners on workplace readiness and professional development topics Is extremely well-organized; and able to create and maintain all necessary paperwork, data, and case notes to ensure outcomes are achieved for each participant.
  • Is committed to empowering individuals to succeed.
  • Provide one-on-one or group counseling sessions to assess individuals' skills, interests, and goals. Help them develop a clear understanding of their career objectives.
  • Assist students in creating effective resumes and cover letters. Offer guidance on formatting, content, and tailoring documents for specific job applications.
  • Provide guidance on effective job search strategies, including online job boards, networking, and other resources. Help students develop a targeted approach to finding suitable employment.
  • Conduct mock interviews and provide feedback to help students improve their interviewing skills. Offer guidance on common interview questions, professional behavior, and attire.
  • Organize and conduct workshops or seminars on various career-related topics such as resume writing, job search techniques, networking, and professional development.
  • Collaborate with employers to identify job opportunities. Facilitate connections between students seeking employment and companies looking to hire.
  • Keep accurate records of student and employer interactions, job placements, and other relevant data. This information may be used for reporting and continuous improvement purposes.
  • Collaborate and work closely with the main campus workforce development team, to create a comprehensive career support system for all DSDT students.
  • Attends job fairs and graduations.
  • Keeps in constant contact with graduates and students

Preferred experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
