Operator

DS NORDEN
Annapolis, MD Full Time
POSTED ON 3/28/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 4/25/2026

Enter the front line of global operations, where your ability to coordinate with stakeholders, read the market and manage risk in real time directly determines voyage performance and commercial outcomes. All backed by collaborative colleagues and support teams, such as risk management and market research, who provide the data and analysis to make confident decisions.

To strengthen our Dry Operations team in Annapolis, we are seeking an experienced Operator to join the team.

You will play a key role in running day‑to‑day voyage activities — ensuring the fleet is efficiently employed, cargoes are secured and vessels are positioned where they create the most value.

It is a requirement that you hold US Citizenship or Green Card.

What is in it for you

Working closely with colleagues across regions, you turn market movements and operational realities into well‑executed decisions that help secure earnings in a fast‑changing environment.

You will join an engaged global team while working day‑to‑day in a smaller group with broad experience and diverse perspectives.

At NORDEN, we focus on being a reliable, long‑term partner, building relationships and delivering consistent, high‑quality operations.

As a client‑focused organisation, we work to increase efficiency, improve productivity and reduce voyage expenses, all while raising our environmental ambitions. With many initiatives initiated by our operations departments, you will have the chance to contribute to greener shipping and smarter global trade.

We keep it friendly, collaborative and people focused. A place where your skills are valued and your contributions truly matter.

For this position, candidates can expect an annual base salary in the range of USD 105,000–115,000. In addition, we offer a competitive insurance package and paid vacation.

The task that awaits you

You will manage operations, coordinating with internal teams, vessels, agents, charterers and owners to ensure smooth voyages, optimise performance and control costs.

This includes:

  • Planning and execution: Plan and execute dry bulk vessels, ensuring optimal vessel performance and adherence to schedules.
  • Cargo operations: Oversee cargo operations, including loading and unloading processes, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Performance monitoring: Monitor vessel performance and operational efficiency, implementing improvements where necessary.
  • Stakeholder communication: Maintain regular communication with various stakeholders, including agents, owners, vessels, charterers and other internal stakeholders.
  • Documentation and reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate documentation and reports, ensuring all records are up-to-date and compliant.
  • Problem-solving: Address operational challenges promptly and effectively.

The position is fully on-site in our office in Annapolis.

What you bring

You are inquisitive, motivated and a great problem solver who is comfortable in a diverse and forward-thinking environment.

Being part of a smaller team; you are collaborative, credible and enthusiastic. You are focused on quality work and overall team development. You should be trusted, manage your own tasks and maintain ownership over your fleet of vessels, projects, and assignments.

Besides this, we are looking for a colleague who:

  • Has a minimum of 2 years’ experience in vessel operations ashore.
  • Demonstrates composure during high-pressure situations, is adept at overseeing multiple assignments and consistently focuses on accuracy.
  • Demonstrates proficient IT skills along with a comprehensive understanding of operational systems and processes; familiarity with IMOS enhances capabilities and attention to detail in data entry is essential.
  • Can efficiently respond to changes in a tough industry, modifying approaches and strategies while continuously focusing on advancement.
