Identify and arrange to purchase tooling and supplies as needed. Perform other jobs as directed by the department head to assist with maintaining all laboratories in the Engineering department.
Duties/Responsibilities:

- Train students in safe operation of all tools. (Develop safety training and exam).
- Supervise students in the workshop to ensure safety.
- Maintain equipment in safe running condition.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues as needed.
- Identify and arrange to purchase tooling and supplies as needed.
- Perform other jobs as directed by the department head to assist with maintaining all laboratories in the Engineering department.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Experience with the safe operation of common manual machine tools (lathe, mill, drill press, bandsaw, etc.) and woodworking tools (miter saw, drill press, bandsaw, etc.).
- Experience with 3D printing and laser cutting preferred, experience with waterjet machines preferred.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills required in order to maintain positive working relationships with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff.
- Ability to:
- Use a computer for basic office functions: employ email for timely communications; create simple documents with Microsoft Word.
- Work effectively and appropriately with students in an educational setting.
- Assist in training students for shop operations in a safe and proper way.
- Work on or oversee a variety of tasks simultaneously and to consistently meet deadlines.
- Handle stressful situations in a calm, orderly and professional manner.
- Monitor equipment for necessary maintenance (repairs and replacement).
- Monitor material supply and recommend material acquisition to Engineering Department Chair.
- Maintain a standard first aid card, C.P.R. certification, and first aid kit including required supplies.
