Role Description The Pharmacy Technician is a on-site role based at Drug Mart Millwood in Millwood, NY. This role involves assisting pharmacists in processing and filling prescriptions, preparing medications, and ensuring compliance with pharmacy regulations and procedures. Day-to-day responsibilities include receiving and entering prescription information, organizing and maintaining inventory, labeling and packaging medications, and handling point-of-sale transactions. The Pharmacy Technician will interact with customers to answer basic medication-related questions, resolve issues, and provide courteous service at the pharmacy counter and by phone. The role also includes maintaining a clean, orderly work area, supporting workflow efficiency, and collaborating with pharmacists and other team members to deliver high-quality patient care.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of Prescription processing and Pharmacy operations, including basic pharmaceutical terminology and medication handling.
- Experience or training as Pharmacy Technicians, with familiarity with pharmacy software systems and prescription entry workflows.
- Skills in Inventory Control, including stocking, rotating, and tracking medications and pharmacy supplies.
- Strong Customer Service abilities, such as clear communication, active listening, and maintaining a professional, respectful demeanor.
- High school diploma or equivalent; formal pharmacy technician training or certification is preferred.
- Attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and strong organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, follow safety and confidentiality guidelines, and work collaboratively with a diverse team.
- Previous retail or healthcare experience is beneficial, particularly in community pharmacy or similar customer-facing settings.
